Honey

Honey’s First Day Home

Honey is our 6 year old, Holland Lop.  Honey is the troublemaker of the burrow.  Every one of our rabbits seems so well behaved on their own until you throw Honey in to the mix and then she becomes the little instigator!

Honey was just a tiny little bun when we brought her home!  I nicknamed her Pudge because she was this round, chubby, little ball of bun!  And so adorable!  Her ears almost touched the ground, they were so much longer than the rest of her body.

Honey was a giant suck when we brought her home.  She loved to be cuddled and snuggled.  My husband loved how she would just nestle right in to his arms as he pet her.  As she got more comfortable with us, we’d bring her on to our bed for a safe exploration.  I’d have her in my arms but after about 10 minutes she’d hop down and want to run around.  She would try to snuggle up with our cats, she’d dig and rearrange our bedsheets and hop around all excited as she got used to those big back feet of hers!

Honey The Little Christmas Bun

Honey and Rocky immediately hit it off!  At this time Honey was too young to feel territorial and it only took Rocky aday of ‘initiation’ before he was satisfied that she would become his best friend.  Rocky and Honey would do everything together!  When Rocky hopped, Honey hopped.  If Rocky binkied, Honey was right behind him.  They would snuggleand cuddle and groom one another.  I would sit there watching them for hours because they were so cute I couldn’t stand to miss one minute of it!

Rocky has always been a little mischievous but Honey made him her partner in crime in no time!  Neat and orderly just isn’t her style, she loves to make a giant mess!  I put up small gates to block areas off like under our bed, that I don’t want the bunnies getting to.  Honey started using her teeth to grab on to one of the sections and pull the gate out of place!  It wasn’t long before Rocky was at the other end, helping her out!  If you try to stop her from being destructive (I held the gate down as she tried to move it) she thumps her feet in disapproval and grunts at you!

Within an hour of cleaning Honey’s cage, she’s got her litter everywhere, the brand new box I’ve put in ripped to shreds and she’s sitting laying in the mess, as happy as can be, trying to chew through one of her many toys.  She is definitely a busy bunny!

Honey All Grown Up

Despite being a little devil she is also incredibly affectionate.  She shoves her nose through the bars of her cage when I come in to the room and proceeds to lick my fingers over and over again when I put them in her cage to try and pet her head.  She hates to be picked up but once you have her snuggled up in your arms, she’s quite content to be massaged and groomed.

It’s funny how quickly Honey grew!  She was so tiny when we first brought her home and now is the largest out of all our rabbits!  She is still my little Pudge but now a supersized version!  And still completely adorable!

Out of all my rabbits, she’s constantly testing my patience the most but it also keeps me on the edge of my toes.  It’s comical waiting to see what kind of hi-jinks she’s going to be up to next!
