Stocking Up On Hay!

IMG_8606

Last weekend Mom and Dad visited Bales4Bunnies to stock up on their delicious farm fresh timothy hay!

This time around they picked up three bales of hay which should last us around four months or so – depending on how much we decide to pull out of our hay boxes and sit on of course! The hay at Bales4Bunnies never disappoints and we can’t get enough of it!

Visiting Bales4Bunnies!

Screen Shot 2013-10-23 at 1.55.05 PM

It was such a beautiful Autumn day on Sunday and we were getting quite low on hay so Hubby and I arranged to meet up with the bunderful Robyn of Bales4Bunnies! Robyn is always so welcoming! We had a great visit with her and she let us hang out with the rabbits for a bit before continuing on our way.

This time around we picked up four bales of hay which should last us around five months with our six hay nomming pets. The bales were a lovely green colour and smelled so sweet and delicious it made me even want to nibble on some! Robyn’s hay never disappoints and our pets can’t seem to get enough!

REVIEW: Ware Critter Chew Garden

veggiegarden

The Ware Critter Chew Garden is made out of wood, sisal and pet safe food colouring. This toy is designed with your pet’s natural instinct to chew in mind. The base has been created to resemble a garden and comes with three removable sisal vegetables. The back also features an attachment so you can bolt it into place on your pet’s cage.

The rabbits loved to nibble on the carrot tops and sisal base. I also found it quite entertaining to watch them try to pull the carrots from the patch! You could also hide a favourite treat under the vegetables to encourage natural foraging behaviours. I loved the look of this toy, it added colour to the cage and was overall pretty adorable!

PROS:

  • Is suitable for a variety of small pets such as guinea pigs, hamsters and rats
  • Provides a safe surface to chew while also preventing boredom
  • Encourages play and natural foraging behaviours
  • This toy attached to the cage so it doesn’t take up any floor space and cannot be moved around by your pet
  • The look of this toy is cute, colourful and appealing

CONS:

  • Once the toy vegetables have been chewed this toy seemed rather useless. Refills for the veggie patch would be a great idea if they don’t already exist. I tried searching for these but did not find anything in store or online.
  • The inside of the vegetables seemed to be paper wrapped thickly in clear tape which does not seem safe for your pet to ingest. I would highly recommend if you purchase this toy to remove the chews once your pet has destroyed the outer layer.

The Bunnies Get A Surprise In The Mail!

A few weeks ago the bunnies received a surprise gift from Hayley, Mocha and Lulu of 101Rabbits! After eagerly opening the package, the bunnies began binkying in excitement – it was a bag o’ hay!

I put the bag on the floor and Rocky and Honey hopped up to it excitedly.

Rocky proceeded to rip it open, having a good look inside and pulling out a few oat pellets and bits of hay!

Next up was Honey’s turn! She chinned the top of the bag and satisfied she had marked it as her own, started to have a munch!

It was a big hit! Thank you Hayley, the bunnies loved their present!

Bales4Bunnies To The Rescue!

Rockyonbale

I knew we were getting low on hay but it didn’t really sink in until I was halfway through my last bin that I only had a few days supply left! Frantic, I contacted Bales4Bunnies to see if we could arrange a delivery ASAP! Luckily for me the bunderful Robyn was more than accommodating and showed up moments after I had filled my bunnies’ hay racks with my last handfuls of hay!

The bunnies are binkying in delight that we now have four wonderfully farm fresh smelling bales of hay to last them over the summer! Phew! That was a close one!

Hay, Hay & More Hay!

Today we joined the hay train and Bales4Bunnies delivered 3 bales of hay to keep the buns and pigs busy for a while! It took Hubby and I some time to break it up, section it and then figure out how we were going to store it all but we were finally able to make it work!
